I am now continuing this long long post by attempting to show the color scheme this room, down the hall, and the other bedroom will have. The wood colored casing area has, as of just now, been painted primer white. See, already this post is outdated.

I realize that it seems like it is taking forever to gain such little ground, but there are always minor details to consider like: caulking in seems and where the edges of base and casing meet takes about 2 hours to dry, puttying nearly 100 tiny nail holes (and sanding them down so they can't be seen), and you always have to prime completely before you can paint your actual color on the wall. Not to mention that paint takes 4 hours to dry, and 2 days or more to cure (so the painters tape doesn't pull the paint off when you mask off certain areas for a 2 tone look). Not to fear however, the final color has already been sprayed on the chair rail, bead board, base, and casing. The colors are from Brigham City Paint, and are a
PPG Architectural Finishes, Inc.
product. They are called: 419-1 Pearls and Lace (trim and bead board), and 419-4 Taupe Trivia (walls).

I took this picture of the color chip strip against my green couch to show the
neuturalness of the shades (and also to prove to myself that the color "Pearls and Lace" is not white, as it may appear. I won't be offended if you call my room white and brown though. Also, here is a little tidbit of advice for anyone wondering if the brand of paint matters: YES IT DOES! Just for future reference, I like
KWAL paint, satin finish. So if (or more likely when) I am doing this again, remind me of that so I can make a quicker decision ;). Yes, it is a little more expensive, and no, it's not quite as convenient to get, but man it looks good!
So, anyways, back to minor details......or small details in a major way! ;) Kurt and I somehow managed to paint(and by paint I mean prime) all the base and casing in the hallway, and finish the casing in the kitchen this morning without a single smudging accident from the circus performers! WOW now that is an accomplishment. Immediately after painting we whisked the whole crew to Ogden (R&R Carpet and Flooring) to pick out the CARPET!!!
YAY!! I love picking out carpet!! I wish I would have taken my camera with me, but I think I will save that image until it has been laid in the room. Monday June 14
th will be the day we will try to spray the wall color in the room. Our wonderful carpet layer (Jeremy
Bensemon, in
Tremonton) will be stopping by around the 16
th to show that carpet who is boss! He really does a wonderful job, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg to come out (which is why we keep him on speed dial).
I am anxiously awaiting our after bedtime painting date when we will be painting the finish color on the base board and trim: down the hallway, around the bathroom door, around the linen closet door, around the new bedroom door, around and inside the living room entry, around the stairway closet door, around and inside the kitchen entry, and finally around the kitchen/back door area. And now you are up to date to the minute. Don't worry, by midnight tonight you will be behind. Check back for more interesting (if you are interested by this sort of thing) updates next week!
