It seems a long winter when there is very little snow and most of the days are just cold. Now spring is here and we are sprouting and shooting all over the place like weeds! Adess and Jexten are both playing soccer this spring, and their games are on the same days, opposite ends of town. Our weekends are nothing but runnin'! We sure do enjoy watching them play and learn the sport though. This spring some of our dreams and schemes for our yard have turned into reality. It's always gratifying when things turn out how you planned. We started by trenching up the entire front yard to lay a sprinkler line. These scars in the lawn are where the lines are laid, not for a giant game of "fox and geese" (although that is always fun!) The brightly colored flags are a convenient way to mark where my future Hibiscus plant will be (thanks Joan!). The other is in the backyard just off the patio.I caught a mighty case of spring fever last night while Kurt was at work and excavated along the north fence of the backyard. Last fall we found that concrete edging had been poured years ago and had been completely overtaken by crabgrass and weeds.... until we brought the tractor back there! So this spring I have made it my personal conquest to dig it out and restore it to the beautiful border flower bed it could have been. As I was removing sod inch by inch, I discovered that someone had planted Peonies there at one point! YAY!! I was OVERJOYED! So what did I do? I dug them up and put them in a happy place in the front yard where they could have a fighting chance (also give some explanation to the neighbors and passers by as to why I insist on having a strip of mud in my yard) haha. Can you tell I LOVE to garden and grow things? I can't help it, it is a deeply ingrained inherited trait that I can't live without! We also started our very own Orchard! We planted Early Elberta Peach, Danube Cherry, Granny Smith and Gala Apple, and Golden Nectarine. We still have room to plant one more.Ahh..Our first tree! More to come!
WOW!!! Your yard is looking so beautiful! You are really good at growing things. that's really neat that you inherited the concrete border. that will be pretty. The orchard will be awesome! I wish I could come to some of their soccer games!!!! I am sure they are the stars on the team!!
