You make it feel like Christmas, all Year!

Christmas time is always a favorite of mine. I really get into the spirit of the season. I love all the decorating, the finding, the wrapping, the singing, the lights, the candy, and of course all the Cheer. This year was an extra special year for us though. This year is the first year the Adessa and Jexten are old enough to grasp the true meaning of Christmas. It has been so much fun teaching Jexten in pre-school time about more than just santa clause and frosty the snowman, and rudolph the red nosed reindeer. There have been times when I have wondered if schooling him at home was really the best thing for him, after our Christmas time lesson, the answer is a resounding Yes. We got to talk on his level about what Christmas really means. With some help from: scripture references, stories from the "Friend" magazine, and a wonderful wooden nativity puzzle that I made a couple years ago, Jexten really caught on. He made his own Christmas list, not a list to santa, but a list of gifts to give to people he loves, symbolizing the gift that Christ gave to each of us. I took him to the dollar store and he picked out something that each person would feel was special, and just for them. I was amazed at the ability of a 4 year old to be so selfless, and thoughtful. I am not sure who was taught more, me or him.:) As Christmas drew near Adessa's 1st grade class was having some fun activities that we got to go help out and participate in Jexten was so proud of his candy train. All the kids were so nice to him, they even told him that he should win a prize for his creation.
Adessa had a good time creating her candy train too. She told me later how happy she was that we could come and share that day with her.
December 20, 2011 was not a happy day for Jexten. We were rushing around the kitchen getting dinner on the table, when Jexten tipped on the back 2 legs of his chair(he told me later that he wanted to balance in the air) and fell backwards against the edge of the dining room entryway. I rushed to him with a cold washcloth, and knew at first glance that we were going to the after hours Medical Arts clinic. Needless to say dinner was shut off, Kurt called the clinic, and we all jumped in the car. We were lucky, there was no concussion, no major damage of any kind. The staples were only in for a week, and Jexten got a lesson from the school of hard knocks. Hopefully there won't be too many of those! Christmas day was a whirlwind of a day. We did let the kids unwrap some presents before church, but there wasn't really time to play with them.
We snapped a quick pic just before we jumped in the car for a wonderful Christmas Sunday. These are all our Christmas outfits. And yes, I realize I am ginormous in this photo. oh well.

Monday December 26 was a complete blast! We all got Roasting Sticks in our stockings and so we just couldn't wait to use them!Jexten got the staples (special band-aid) taken out on Tuesday Dec. 27 and we hurried to Idaho for some more incredible festivities! But first, we must be fed!
